Malbec 2005

2005 Malbec

Winemaker's Tasting Notes

A small crop of black-skinned Malbec berries with textbook-perfect ripeness awaited the picking crew in early October.

Powerful aromas of blackberries and ripe plums are accented by whiffs of fruit jam, earthy mushroom, and smoke. The palate carries our distinctive mineral flavor with very ripe blueberries, black licorice, and cassis on a medium frame.

Don’t let the plush texture fool you, though. This wine has tremendous acid balance, great tannin structure and the concentration to age beautifully over the next three to five years with proper cellaring.

We think this Malbec is dynamite when paired with traditional dishes like grilled duck confit with white bean cassoulet.
